Bill Colgan / Thursday, 18 May 2017 / Categories: Latest News Kensington Tavern team of Red Tavistock clean up Lion Red Clubs & Pubs Punters Challenge Led by Craig Woods (second from left in photo) the Kensington Tavern team over took the gallant Whangarei RSA team with a big win on Rose Imperial at the last race of the competition. 14 Teams Battle for Trophy 14 teams from local Pubs & Clubs battled for the trophy and $1,000 Lion Red prizes. Jumping out to lead early was the Whangarei RSA team with a big win ($1,400) of a first four with their first bet of the competition. The lady dominated team led strongly until the last race of the competition with both the Red Tavistock and Homestead #1 teams backing Rose Imperial to win. At the final count Red Tavistock had multiplied their $400 to $2,400 to win the trophy, followed by Homestead#1 with $1,300, Whangarei RSA $1,298 and Kamo Club $1,180. The competition was very tough with these teams producing exceptionally good results. Many thanks to the teams for their enthusiasm for the event and to Lion Red for their sponsorship.
